Abstract
More than 86,000 meters (about 35 wells) have been drilled in the Cerro Prieto Geothermal Field (CPGF) in the last two years (2004-2005). Based on the information collected from those wells the geological model of the system was updated, particularly to its structural characteristics. It is proposed to divide the field into four main structural blocks. These blocks are delimited by two important faults of the so-called Fault H System, which define an unstable zone. That zone and its lithologic contacts are depicted using 3-D figures. Finally, the behavior of different production wells open in the unstable zone is analyzed.
