Abstract
During development of processes to inhibit the deposition of ferric silicate scales from high temperature, hyper saline geothermal brines, such as those encountered at the Salton Sea KGRA, enhanced silver deposition has been observed. An overall decrease in scale deposition, especially or iron silicate scale, is achieved while a silver rich scale is recovered upon treating silver containing brine with acid, reducing agents, or combinations, thereof. Silver scales are deposited in locations of high turbulence in fluid handling equipment; silver has been found to be present in the scales as the element, Ag, ceragryrite, AgC1, and alloy like phases isomorphouse with dyscracite, Ag, Sb.
