Abstract
The Scientific Observation Hole project is a series of four deep core holes currently being drilled in the East Rift Zone (ERZ) of Kilauea Volcano on the island of Hawaii. Lithology and mineralogy of the cores recovered from these holes are discussed. Temperature, water level, and RQD data from the drill holes are stated. Conclusions are drawn as to the existence of a geothermal resource within the ERZ, and to the structure, eruptive history, and age of Kilauea Volcano.
