Abstract
Carlin Trend gold mineralizing hydrothermal systems and nearby present day geothermal phenomena have been structurally focused by wrench fault tectonics that have been operative from the late Devonian to the Quaternary period. Four major structural zones define a rhomb shaped geometry with the Beowawe Geysers at the southwest corner of the high grade Post Betze gold deposits at the northeast corner. These deposits exhibit 140°F waters in drill holes that have thermal gradients, geohydrologic controls, and isotopic signature comparable to the Beowawe system.
