Abstract
Fundamental study of volcano energy utilization has been performed by the Geothermal Research Institute of Kyushu University, through the case study at Kuju volcano in Kyushu province, southwest Japan. The electromagnetic study was planned as part of this comprehensive study, to make clear the geothermal structure in the volcanic body. ELF-MT, ULF=MT and CSAMT was performed in the Kuju volcano. Three dimensional resistivity model based on the MT data in the Kuju iwoyama area was constructed by finite element modeling technique. The model showed the low resistivity zone is formed in the beneath of fumarolic area. We discussed causes of low resistivity in this area and estimated the temperature, the porosity and the specific surface area of rocks in this zone.
