Abstract
Alteration zones are widely distributed around the San Kamphaeng hot spring area, which is one of the hopeful geothermal fields in Thailand. Silicified and kaolinite zones are good indicator for high grade alteration. Highly altered zones are distributed along the major fault of this area with the direction of NNW-SSE and partly E-W direction which coincides with that of quartz veins. Contents of radiogenic elements (u. The and K) are also very good indicator for high grade alteration. Temperature ranges of 98 to 176°C is obtained for the fluid inclusion study of quartz and calcite veins of surface and core samples. Hydrothermal activity was moved form north to south. Alteration age of northern tip of the alteration zone is older than 3Ma and that or presently active area is 0.5Ma to present. Channel like small reservoir is postulated form the existing data and present study.
