Abstract

The selection process and description of a cost effective method for reducing H2S emission created during stacking incidents form the Unit 15 steam field owned by GEO Operator Corporation (GEOOC) are presented in this paper. The field supplies geothermal steam to Geysers Unit 15 Power Plant which is owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The need for a process to reduce H2S emission an four existing technologies to achieve such reductions in use at the Geysers today are discussed. Based on technical and economic data, GEOOC selected a steam field control system as the most preferred method for reducing H2S emissions.
