Abstract
The Lahendong Geothermal Field lies in the northern part of Sulawesi Island. Preliminary reconnaissance study and detailed exploration surveys allowed to define the presence of a large geothermal potential which has been proven by drilling four deep wells. A fifth hole is in progress. Surface and subsurface data, including completion and production tests, were carefully analyzed to determine the main characteristics of this field, and to establish a preliminary geothermal model. Results indicate the existence of two reservoirs separated by a silicified zone. Both are of water dominated type. The first, situated between 400 and 800 meters depth, is composed of acidic water with a temperature of about 260°C. The second reservoir, located below 1500 meters depth, consists of neutral water with a temperature of 300°C. Regarding to these results, investigations are continuing and it is expect to develop 30MWe Power Plant for 1992-1993.
