Abstract

A general method of plotting pressure as a function of depth in a geothermal well for different flowrates has been obtained by shifting the depth scale. The wellbore pressure profile curve must be developed for each well, but the resultant set of curves can be used to determine pressure of flowrate for any changes in the reservoir flow. For a given well diameter (either uniform or varying) and enthalpy of the fluid entering the wellbore, the pressure as function of depth for different flowrates was calculated. The curves were shifted until the flash points coincided. The curves can be used to give the flowing wellbore profile for any wellbore of a given length, and allow convenient comparison of pressure profiles as a function of mass flowrate.
