Abstract
Reliability through design of the Sante Fe Geothermal Plant No. 1 is presented. Even though it has two turbine generators it is a single plant incorporating dual and shared systems, not two separate plants. There are dual turbine generators and related equipment. There are single circulating water and other supporting systems. Individual components within systems may be redundant depending on whether the component is essential for power generation. The Sante Fe plant entered commercial service in April, 184. The plant achieved a capacity factor of 98.6 percent and an availability factor of 99.9 percent for the first ten months of service, reflecting the adequacy with which the criteria were met.
