Abstract

In late 1982 Phillips Petroleum Company began preliminary design of a power plant for Desert Peak in Churchill County, Nevada. Like all geothermal resources and projects Desert Peak is unique and required careful consideration of existing process schemes and design technologies. This paper is limited to discussing the evolution of surface facilities design and will not attempt to review geological aspects of the resource. Although specific conclusion may not be applicable to other projects, process and design considerations discussed in this paper should be reviewed to ensure maximum conversion efficient for any new facility.
