Abstract
Drill cuttings for the geothermal wildcat well HGP-A have been reviewed with the aid of low power binocular microscope observations and X-Ray diffraction analyses. Two major rock alteration processes have been observed in the cuttings, contact metamorphism and hydrothermal mineralization. Isolating hydrothermal processes can be most effectively be done by identifying hydrothermal precipitation minerals. In HGP-A the most diagnostic of these minerals are mordenite, chlorite, and epidote.
