Abstract
Cumulative evidence collected to date in the Makushin Volcano geothermal area indicates the presence of a widespread, commercial temperature geothermal system centered along a northeast trending structure. The heat source driving this system is probably a partially molten to molten intrusive body related to the active Makushin Volcano. Geochemical data suggest the existence of a liquid dominated system with a discontinuous steam cap. Pervasive fracturing, found in the core holes and on the surface through field mapping and analysis of aerial photographs, appears to be sufficient to support a commercial size geothermal reservoir. This hypothesis can only be verified conclusively by deep drilling and testing.
