Abstract
This paper evaluates the effect of equipment limitations on the net saleable power produced by a binary generator. The binary system analyzed receives heat from a 240°F geothermal water, uses sea water for cooling, and uses an R-114 refrigerant. Conclusion are that expander efficiency, evaporator and condenser approach temperatures, and cooling water temperature have major effects on the amount of net salable power. Equipment related to these items should be specified, or selected, carefully. Cooling water temperature drop through the condenser should be optimized. Pump efficiencies are also an important consideration.
