Abstract
Occidental Geothermal Inc. (oxy) is currently in the design phase of a geothermal power plant in the Geysers area of Northern California. Oxy plans to own and operate both the well field and the power plant. This is the first time in the Geysers that a resource developer has elected to produce power from a geothermal resource to be sold under PURPA. This paper discussed the unique features which make this unit different from other now operating in the Geysers. These features include a twin turbine generator arrangement incorporating partial arc admission and sliding pressure operation, a series condenser arrangement, and a condenser bypass
