Abstract
The construction of the 3 MW geothermal power plant at HGP-A well was completed in June, 1981. The HGP-A started production on June 12, 1981. Numerous problems developed during the plant startup and shakedown periods. However, the pant was formally turned over to Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO), the local utility company on March 1, 1982. Currently, all systems are functioning well and all major objectives have been met. The plan is to operate the power plant though 1990 where long term equipment and material information and reservoir characteristics can be obtained.
