Abstract
This paper describes a potential obstacle to rapid market penetration in geothermal community heating systems resulting from the capital costs associated with joining the system. The analysis evaluates incentive plans based on the value of accelerated market penetration to the utility and the fixed and variable costs faced by the homeowner.
