Abstract
Subsurface distribution of the temperature in the Momotombo geothermal reservoir indicates that the reservoir is heated by steam emerging from narrow source fracture zone, located in the western part of the field. The source fracture zone trends roughly in northern direction. It extends downwards, below the level of -1700 m. (m.s.l.). At shallow levels, approximately above the level of -850 m. (m.s.l.), it branches off in the eastern direction, where the hot geothermal fluids form an extensive hot plume, overlying cooler water.
