Abstract

Current literature on two dimensional geothermal simulation indicate that direct simultaneous solution of the simulator equations is one common approach which can be very inefficient if the reservoir grid is very large. This paper is concerned with the development and the applications of an efficient two dimensional, finite-difference type computer geothermal reservoir simulator (CGS). The solution technique of CGS is based on the approach of sequential numerical method in petroleum reservoir simulation. The thermodynamic properties of the geothermal fluid gives physical support of this numerical method in geothermal reservoir simulation. SIP is used as the matrix solution method in CGS. An example of the applications of CGS to a hypothetical geothermal reservoir is included.
