Abstract
Fractures and joints are abundant in the Yuanfeng Sandstone member of the Miocene Lushan Formation, which constitutes the reservoir rock in the Lushan geothermal field. The recognized faults close to the Member also provide the preferred channel ways for the geothermal fluids. This can be proved by the distribution of surface hot spring activities and the test wells yielding hot fluids underground. The potential of the geothermal field is estimated to be nearly 30 MW. It is about the same scale as the producing Chingshui Tuchang field in northern Taiwan.
