Abstract
Electrical conductivity of geothermal brines, measured by electric logs may be influenced by the presence of soluble gases. This study presents laboratory data measured at room temperature and at pressures up to 2500 psi. The gases studies included carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen. By and large, carbon dioxide has the greatest influence and mainly at low salt concentrations. For the case of dissolved methane and nitrogen no significant change in the electrical conductivity of the brine is detected.
