Abstract
What appears to be a modest goal of 3,000 - 4,000 MW (e) of geothermal power on line by 1985 requires a surprisingly large exploratory drilling effort by industry to confirm the necessary number of reservoirs. Several different Federal initiatives are discussed which may assist industry in meeting this near term goal.
