Abstract

The first test of small Kalina power generation using hot spring fluid in Japan started at Matsunoyama site in December 2011. For generation test, fluid from Takanoyu#3 well is used with about 100 ÂșC and 9,000mg/L Cl concentration. The heat source of fluid is geo-pressured reservoir with dome structure. Now, the production rate of Takanoyu#3 well from 1,300 meter depth is controlled about 200L/min about one third of maximum and initial rate of 624L/min in 2007. To increase power generation, we have to estimate the maximum sustainable production rate. Then, we survey the mechanism and origin of Matsunoyama hot spring field using geological, geochemical and historical flow rate data. In Matsunoyama region, the anticline and reverse fault and several wells exists. And Takanoyu#3 well exists on reverse fault same as Takanoyu#2 and the geochemistry of both well is similar than comparing other wells. Then, the estimated maximum production rate curve of Takanoyu#3 is similar as Takanoyu#2. Takanoyu#2 is drilled in 1964 and initial production rate is about 160 L/min. After 1973, the production rate of Takanoyu#2 is stable about 100 L/min (65 % of initial rate). Then, we estimate that about 400 L/ min (about 65% of initial rate) is maximum suitable production rate for more than 50kW power generation from Takanoyu#3 well.
