Notes:

Make sure Terrain is selected under layers to see the 3D view of the mountain

The tour starts at the Ranger Station.  Click on Start: Trailhead under the Mountaineer’s Route see the hiking route.

Itinerary:

 

5/29 Day 1:  Travel Day

9:00 am      Get thee to Lone Pine, CA
6:00 pm      Meet with Guides in Lone Pine for gear check
                   Dinner in Lone Pine
                   Travel to Whitney Portal and set up camp

5/30 Day 2:  Hike to Base camp at Upper Boyscout Lake

8:00 am      Meet Guides (James “JB” Brown and Peter at Whitney Trailhead)
9:00 am      Start hiking
4:00 pm      Arrive at Base camp, set up tents
5:00 pm      Snow School (Learn to self arrest, glissade, hiking with crampons, etc.)
6:30 pm      Dinner

5/31 Day 3:  Hike to Base camp at Upper Boy scout Lake

3:00 am      Wake up call
4:00 am      Start hiking
7:30 am      Arrive at Iceberg Lake
Noon-ish     Summit
                   Return to Base camp
7:00 pm      Dinner

6/1 Day 4:  Hike out and go home :(

6:00 am      Sleep in as late as possible
8:00 am      Start hiking
Noon-ish     Arrive at cars in Whitney Portal
                   Drive to Lone Pine
2:00 pm      Eat Pizza and drink beer and champagne
4:00 pm      Drive home
