Prospecting students

My research focusses on reservoir modeling specifically and on geostatistical applications in general, see my research page. If you want to obtain a Master or PhD in Energy Resources Engineering or Petroleum Engineering, you should apply directly to the Energy Resources Engineering Deparment, information on the application process is found on the Department webpages. The ERE Department usually admits students for the Fall quarter of each year only, admissions in the middle of the year are very rare.

The School of Earth Sciences offers now a new graduate program in the Earth, Energy and the Environmental Sciences. I have funding for excellent candidates who want to conduct interdisciplinary research in any of these areas as MS or PhD that involves my research interests (geostatistics, spatial statistics, inverse modeling, multi-scale problems etc...). Research topics could be within reservoir characterization or could be from any other area of the Earth and Environmental Sciences (e.g. groundwater reservoirs, mining, geophysics, environment). Feel free to contact me if you are interested and would like to discuss your specific research interests.

I also have funding for Postdoctoral candidates in Reservoir Modeling or related areas, although I usually require candidates to raise half of their stipend; I will match the other half. Feel free to contact me directly if your are interested.

All candidates are expected to have excellent quantitative skills, preferrably a solid background in applied mathematics or engineering (any field). Excellent computer programming skills and a background in the Earth Sciences are also taken into consideration.
