Argentine Andes, Trip from Mendoza for GSA Meeting

A view of Aconcagua, a 22,835 ft peak on the boarder of Argentina and Chile

Well, I am standing on the highlands of western Argentina, with the beautiful Andes behind me. See a bigger and better picture below   Alice L. and I standing at a natural bridge, carved out of limestone in the Andes.

The Argentine Andes. This scene may look familiar because it was also the backdrop for the 1997 movie "Seven Years in Tibet."
There were quite of few Stanford Grad. Students at this GSA meeting. Here are four: (L-->R) Matt C., Brian R., Carrie W., and Julie F. We visited this winter shelder, near the peak of the Andes. This is the shelter that Darwin stayed, during his visit to South America.
