Over the years we have carried out numerous field-based projects aimed at understanding the geologic history of the western U.S. Cordillera and its relationship to plate tectonics. We have at various times focused on the Paleozoic and Mesozoic accretionary history of the Cordillera, the Mesozoic history of subduction, crustal shortening and magmatism, the Tertiary extensional history of the Basin and Range province, and the neotectonic history of California.
