Geologic mapping at 1:24,000 of the Snake Range metamorphic core complex (Mount Moriah Wilderness Area) and the southern Snake Range (Great Basin National Park) is almost completed (2001). The geologic mapping of these ranges has served as basis for numerous topical studies over the years on the origin and evolution of extensional detachment faults and metamorphic core complexes.
