Our Arctic and Russian studies in the Bering Strait region began with the desire to further understand and link the geotectonic evolution of Alaska with that of North-East Russia and the Arctic. From 1994-1997 we carried out an international, collaborative, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, geophysical and geologic research project in the Bering Strait Region with Simon Klemperer in Geophysics (Bering Strait Project). Work resulting from this effort and others in the region will constitute a Geological Society of America Special Paper titled, "Tectonic Evolution of the Bering-Chukchi Continental Shelves and adjacent Alaska and Russia, in press."
