Friday, December 10th, 2004

Morning: Overview of the Geology and Tectonics of NE Russia and adjacent Alaska
(Thirty minute presentations that describe the state of current geological and geophysical understanding for each study area and highlight major unresolved questions followed by15 minutes of group discussion)

8:00 - 8:45 AM: The Arctic Margin: Natal'in and Miller
8:45 - 9:30 AM: Verkhoyansk-Kolyma Orogenic Belt: Toro and Prokopiev
9:30 -10:15 AM: Pacific Margin: Hourigan, Sokolov and Khanchuk

Coffee Break

10:30 - 11:15 AM: Magmatic belts and ages: Akinin and Layer
11:15 - 12:00 AM: Plate boundaries, seismicity, and geophysics: Fujita, Kogan and Levin

12:00 -1:00 PM: Lunch

Afternoon: Regional break-out groups discussions

1:00 – 3:00 PM: Introductory Talks - 10 minute (or less) presentations by each group member detailing research results for ongoing projects and prospectives for future research projects

Coffee Break

3:15 – 5:00 PM: Round table discussions - break-out groups begin mapping out most important tectonic objectives; highlight critical information needed from other groups to address these problems

 

Saturday, December 11th, 2004

8:00 – 9:00 AM: Brief minutes of subgroup discussions
9:00 - 12:00 AM: Break-out group “cross-fertilization”: representatives from each group should rotate amongst other working groups to highlight regional and multidisciplinary objectives.

12:00 – 1:00 PM: Lunch

1:00 – 5:00 PM: Group Strategic Plan write-up: break-out groups produce strategic plan in standard format for inclusion in Northeast Russian Tectonics “White Paper.” Map out possible collaborative research proposals

Dinner

Sunday, December 12th, 2004

9:00 – 10:15 AM: Presentation of group strategic plans: Powerpoint presentation of group strategic plans.

Coffee Break

10:15 – 11:30 AM: Discussion
