Stanford-China Geosciences
Industrial Affiliates Program

In order to support research on the tectonics, sedimentary basin development and petroleum geology of China, and in order to strengthen the database from which evaluations of the petroleum resource potential of China can be made, a group of Stanford University researchers organized the Stanford-China Geosciences Industrial Affiliates Program in 1987. This program, like the many other Industrial Affiliates programs at Stanford, consists of a consortium of companies whose members provide support for and interact with Stanford researchers. In the case of the China Project, typical benefits to supporting companies include, but are not limited to: participation in a technical review of the project held annually at Stanford; participation in special symposia convened on an occasional basis, such as our Tarim basin and East China Sea symposia; access to technical results, such as manuscripts and dissertations, in advance of publication; access to Stanford researchers on an individual basis, as schedules permit. Twenty-six petroleum companies have participated in the Stanford-China Geosciences Industrial Affiliates Program during 1987-1997.

The Stanford-China Geosciences Industrial Affiliates Program is a noncontractural program, funded annually on a calendar year basis. The level of contribution for membership is $20,000 (U.S.) per company per year.
