Wind Energy Research at the National Wind Technology Center

Speaker: Fort Felker, Director, National Wind Technology Center, National Renewable Energy Laboratory

An overview of the comprehensive research program at the Department of Energy's National Wind Technology Center will be presented. Particular attention will be given to topics where future collaboration between the NWTC and Stanford could be mutually beneficial.

Biography
Dr. Felker is the Director of NREL’s National Wind Technology Center, where he has responsibility for the staff, facilities, and R&D efforts. Previously, he was co-founder and VP of Winglet Technology, a company that commercialized his patented "elliptical winglets". From 1994-1996, Felker was an Engineering Director at Kenetech Windpower, where he played a key role developing the variable-speed KVS-45 wind turbine. From 1979 to 1994 he conducted rotorcraft research and development at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
