Earth Sciences Personnel Directory: Special Features

If you are listed in this database, there are special features available to you. To use these features (except e-mail address protection), you will need to log in with your SUNet ID; just click on the "Log In" link at the top of each page. These additional features are:

E-mail address protection

Don't want to get spam? Don't worry - your e-mail address is safe. To prevent addresses from being harvested by web-crawling robots, we are displaying addresses using Javascript. While all modern browsers interpret Javascript, e-mail address harvesting robots do not; since your address never appears in the HTML source code, it will not be picked up by spammers. This is done automatically for all addresses we display in this database.

E-mail lists

When you perform a search, you will have the option of sending an e-mail to the list of people you have found. You can use this feature to generate e-mail lists tailored to specific categories by department, position, or location. Simply click the "Send e-mail to list " link at the top of the search results page, and you will get a mail form with the addresses already filled in. If you prefer to use your own e-mail client, you can copy and paste the addresses in the "To" field of the mail form page.

Personnel Profiles

Peoples' profiles can now contain additional contact information, including emergency contact information, and photographs. Some of this information - such as photos or certain phone numbers - can be restricted to Earth Sciences people only, or to administrators only. To choose who can see your information, edit your profile (click the "Edit" link in the left-side navigation bar); you will see options next to those items which can be designated Earth Sciences-only or administrators-only.

Emergency contact information is visible only to administrators. For a full list of people with administrative privileges, contact the Webmaster.

CVs

Faculty CVs include a section showing each professor's research funding information. For reasons of privacy, this information is restricted to Earth Sciences people only; it will automatically appear on the CV (both web version and printable versions) if you are logged in.

Editing your information

Everyone who is listed in this database is able to edit their own information. (See the Help page for more information.) Your administrator has probably included only the very basic information about you, such as your name and SUNet ID. To add more information - a description of your research project, a photo, phone numbers, websites etc - choose the "Edit" link on the navigation bar at the left. If you are already logged in, the "Edit My Profile" link will take you to straight to your profile.
