Prospective Students

Environmental ChangeThe Stanford School of Earth Sciences consists of 51 faculty members housed in four departments and two interdisciplinary programs, which grant Master of Science, Engineer, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. In this environment interactions among faculty, students, and staff across departments and beyond the school are possible and are as important as those within departments.

Student Body

The graduate student body in Earth Sciences is made up of approximately 250 students; 43 percent female and over 45 percent from foreign countries. Our students represent a variety of socio-economic, racial/ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.

Funding

All Ph.D. candidates within EESS are provided full financial support for the first four years and generally for the duration of their doctoral work. There is limited funding for MS students. Individual health insurance is also subsidized for all graduate students.
