Geophysics Research
Geophysics is the branch of the Earth Sciences that uses physical measurements and mathematical models to develop an understanding of what the Earth's interior is like, and how it works. Research in the Geophysics Department at Stanford can be broken down into four broad categories: Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Energy, Environmental Geophysics, and Earth Structure & Geodynamics. These multidisciplinary research areas include laboratory, field, computational, and theoretical components. World-classfacilities such as Stanford's Center for Computational Earth and Environmental Science givestudents, faculty, and staff the resources needed to stay on the cutting edge of science.
