Maps, Satellite Images, & Aerial Photos
- Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium - Landsat images for most of the United States.
- USGS Maps & Aerial Images - Not very useful; at least not in the time I spent here
- USGS Global Visualization Viewer - Global Landsat images (to export a scene, press the "Add" button then the "Show Browse" button. A new window will open from which you can save the scene.)
- Aerial Photos of the U.S.
- TerraFly - Fly-over maps with links to USGS, EPA and demographic data
- Topographic Maps of the U.S. - If the e-mail link doesn't work, try using a screen capture to get the map.
- Environmental Protection Agency's Enviromapper - Use Enviromapper to create many interesting maps, including locations of Superfund sites.
- Search for USGS Maps - For maps, cross-sections (look out for water quality cross-sections – not what you want!)
- USGS Land Use Data - Once you have zoomed in on your study area, use the metadata button (m) to bring up the NED, NLCD and SRTM buttons in the bottom window. Choose NLCD, then click in the map window. A new window should open that contains information about the map you are looking at. Near the bottom there should be and explaination of what different land covers relate to the numbers in the map legend.
- National Atlas of the U.S.
- Water Encyclopedia - Branner Library Reference section (TD351.V36). River, stream and lake data; often volume and depth.
