Publications

This will be a good place to come to download, donate, or simply peruse fascinating articles relevant to various aspects of our class. Beware that if the files are "pdf" files, you will need "Adobe Acrobat Reader", which is freeware and downloadable from Adobe's site. But in all likelihood, your computer will already have it, especially if you're at a cluster computer anywhere on campus. In any case, there ain't too much here for now. But hey, it's a good start. Enjoy.

  • Dunbar's "Annual Records of Tropical Systems" (ARTS) publication (pdf file for download). This evaluates things such as tree rings, varves, ice cores, and especially corals, as good records of tropical climate changes such as El Niño. It's a little more general but because Dunbar wrote it, he felt free to slant it towards what he loves best: El Niño and corals.
  • A news article about the potential relationships between El Niño and the global CO2. Fascinating to us Earth Systems types... Interesting because instead of being about how El Niño will change with an eventual doubling of atmospheric CO2, it's about how El Niño might temper atmospheric CO2 increases.
