Samba password problemsLast revision January 5, 2006 Windows PCs and Macintosh computers running MacOS X can both use file systems on pangea via the Samba server. If the connection to the Samba file server fails with an Invalid Password error, it probably just means that Samba doesn't know your current pangea password. You can fix this by changing your pangea local password. Changing your pangea password will automatically update your Samba password to match. If you don't want to change your pangea local password, contact the pangea system manager and ask for a Samba password. He will give you a temporary password for Samba; you can then use a command line login to pangea to run the command smbpasswd Enter the temporary password as your old password, and enter your current pangea local password for your new Samba password.
