I tried to post to msgs@pangea but my message never appeared. What happened?

Last revision June 29, 2004

In an attempt to block unwanted and often offensive "junk email" messages, the msgs system on pangea has been configured to reject any email message received at msgs@pangea that is not sent from a Stanford computer (that is, from a computer whose network name ends in .stanford.edu).

There have been some legitimate messages posted from off-campus collaborators. Unfortunately, there is no way for the simple program used to distinguish them from "spam". Off-campus collaborators will now have to send their posting to someone here in the School, and ask him/her to send it on to msgs@pangea.
