David Mount

Dave is a joint MS/MBA student interested in learning more about the fundamentals of energy processes, natural resource economics and building design as he pursues a career in energy-related investing andentrepreneurship.

Within the IPER program, Dave hopes to develop an understanding of traditional energy science, global resource consumption patterns, and building design convention. He also hopes to learn more about advanced technologies that build off of the existing energy infrastructure to improve efficiency and reduce emissions in the transportation and industrial sectors.

Prior to arriving at Stanford, Dave was an associate at Sankaty Advisors, a unit of Bain Capital, where he worked on teams investing in the oil and gas exploration and production, petrochemicals, oilfield services, and food services industries (among others). In 2007, he was a summer associate at Mission Point Capital, a private equity firm that invests in companies seeking to facilitate a transition to a low-carbon economy (specialty financing of solar projects and building upgrades, industrial process optimization, 'built environment' efficiency, etc). He also spent a portion of the summer in Singapore, working with a multi-national power company to finalize plans for a geothermal installation in Indonesia.

A political science major at Yale focused on political theory and international development, Dave is excited to have the opportunity to develop a more technical background in the energy field. He looks forward to being out of his element wandering through the engineering and earth sciences buildings in the quarters ahead.
