International Downhole Imagers Society Library

About IDIS

The International Downhole Imaging Society (IDIS) is an informal organization of people involved in all aspects of wellbore imaging technology.

Our members range from geologists, geophysicists and petrophysicists to computer scientists and engineers. We work in the oil and gas industry, the geotechnical industry, government and academia.

About This Library

This library provides graphic representations of well data recorded (imaged) using traditional and new techniques and equipment.

The images are categorized in two ways:

  • Imaging technologies that are used to collect data
  • Geologic features that are present in the data

The purpose of this library is to demonstrate and promote the use of borehole imaging technology and to exchange information about interpretation techniques and their pitfalls. This is a non-profit, educational endeavor.
