If you do not have a car, there are a number of other ways to get to Stanford. We suggest using the van services or Caltrain.

From San Francisco Airport (SFO)

Van services
There are several shuttle services that operate on a 24-hour basis to the Stanford campus. The following shuttle services charge $17 to $26 for a one way door-to-door trip. Pick-up is upstairs on departure level on the center traffic island:

County Bus Service
The Sam Trans Bus, also offers transportation from SFO to Palo Alto. The number 7F bus leaves the airport every half hour between 6:55am and 1:25am. Be sure to take a bus going to Palo Alto, not San Francisco. The fare is $1.10 per person; exact change is required. Pick up is upstairs on departure level near United or in front of the International terminal. The ride takes about one hour, as it stops regularly and the closest destination is the Stanford Shopping Center. From the shopping center, you can take Marguerite A during weekdays or Shopping Express during weekends to campus. This is not the best option to get to Stanford as it takes too long.

Train
Take the free SFO-Caltrain Shuttle (stop is located on the upper level outside United) to Caltrain's Millbrae Station. Take Millbrae Station to downtown Palo Alto or California Ave ($3.25). Check train hours at www.caltrain.com before you come. Take free Marguerite Shuttle from Palo Alto Caltrain station (or California Ave. station) to Stanford between 6 am and 7:45pm, Monday-Friday. Check Marguerite route map to determine whether Line A or B serves your destination from Palo Alto station; only Line A goes to/from California Ave.

From San Jose Airport (SJC)

Van Services
South Bay Airport Shuttle. They charge approximately $22 one way, door-to-door from airport terminal. Pick-up from Terminal A is in garage, adjacent to baggage claim. Pick-up from Terminal C is outside baggage claim.

County Bus Service
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) $1.25 each trip. Take the free VTA Line 10 Airport Flyer to Santa Clara Caltrain Station, then if arriving Monday-Friday, take bus 300 to the Palo Alto Caltrain station. Saturday and Sunday, take the Marguerite Shopping Express to campus (check route map and schedule here).

Train
From San Jose Airport, take the free VTA line 10 Airport Flyer to Santa Clara Station. Take the CalTrain from the Santa Clara Station to Palo Alto station or California Avenue ($2). Take free Marguerite Shuttle from Palo Alto Caltrain station (or California Avenue station) to Stanford between 6am and 7:45 pm, Monday to Friday. During weekends take free Marguerite Shopping Express only from Palo Alto Caltrain station. Please check the Caltrain schedule before coming here (www.caltrain.com).
