RESERVOIR IMAGING
Subsurface reservoirs contain and supply valuable natural resources, including clean water and petroleum products. These reservoirs may also be used to sequester greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. The research goal of Reservoir Imaging is to identify, characterize and monitor subsurface reservoirs. Research activities range from shallow environmental applications to studies of deep oil and gas formations. For more information, refer to the following groups: Stanford Exploration Project and the Seismic Tomography Project. Or see the following faculty pages: Biondo Biondi, Jon Claerbout, and Jerry M. Harris. Close ties exist with the Rock Physics Group of Gary Mavko and Amos Nur.
