Shell Research & Travel Grants

Grants for research support and travel to conferences are available for Geophysics students. These grants are funded through a donation from Shell International Exploration and Production, Inc. They may be used to support graduate student research; to purchase research materials and equipment; or for other related purposes.

• Research Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded. To apply, please submit a short summary of the research (up to 2 pages), along with an estimate of expenses to be covered by the grant. Covered expenses include travel, supplies, rentals, and related expenses to support the research.
• Travel Grants of up to $750 will be awarded to students making presentations at domestic or international meetings and conferences.
• PLEASE APPLY TO GRANT BEFORE ANY TRAVEL / RESEARCH.

To apply, please submit a copy of the presentation abstract along with an estimate of expenses to be covered by the grant.To apply submit your application form to Lauren Nelson, Geophysics Department Manager. Once your application is reviewed it will be submitted to Professor Biondo Biondi for approval. Awards are available at any time throughout the year. However, funds are limited so apply early to maximize consideration. Matching funds from other sources are encouraged but not required.
