Application Procedure for PhD & MS

- U.S. Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
- Graduate application
- Three Letters of Recommendation: Recommenders should submit letters either online or directly to the department address below.
- Two official transcripts - send to department address below.
- GRE - send to Graduate Admissions.
- TOEFL (required for non-native English speakers) - send to Graduate Admissions.
- Please take these ADDITIONAL steps by December 18:
1. Upload a plain text version of your Statement of Purpose into the Geophysics database.
2. Upload PDFs of your unofficial transcripts (must be in English) into the Geophysics database.
Using the Geophysics Database
A. Once you have submitted your application, you may access the Geophysics admissions database by going to:
http://es-admissions.stanford.edu/
B. Click on the link under the "Updating Application" section.
C. Type the e-mail address entered in your application into the specified field.
D. Within 30 minutes, you will receive an automatically generated e-mail, containing a list of application components, their receipt status and one-time links to a page where you can upload your: 1. plain text Statement of Purpose; and 2. your unofficial transcripts.
Note that transcripts with multiple pages must be uploaded as a single PDF. You may upload documents and request receipt status updates more than once, though you will have to once again visit the URL above, enter your e-mail address and await the automatically generated e-mail with a new one-time link.
