World Geothermal Congress 2010

Instructions for Uploading Papers

Note: Draft Manuscripts are due May 31, 2009.

The process uses a secure SCP transfer protocol to transfer the file from your computer to ours.

  1. Download the scp program http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/pscp.exe and save it in the same directory as your paper. Mirror sites for the pscp program, that may be in your own country, can be found at: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/mirrors.html
  2. Open a command prompt to the directory that contains both your paper and the pscp.exe program, and give the command (typically):

pscp -pw XXXX 1234.doc 1234@geothermal.stanford.edu:1234.doc

where 1234 is your paper number, and XXX is the password sent to you with your abstract acknowledgement.

  1. You may upload only a .doc file. Any other form of file will be deleted automatically by the security system on the server.
  2. Within a few days from your upload, you should be able to login to the WGC2010 author site http://geothermal.stanford.edu/wgc2010reg/AuthLogin.htm and confirm that your paper was received. If your file does not show as having been received, send email to wgc2010@sesmail.stanford.edu to check on it.
  3. Please scan your file for viruses before uploading it.

If you are not using a Windows computer, then you may use any SFTP (secure FTP) protocol program to transfer your file. Use the paper number as a login username, and the password you have been sent.

If you are unable to upload the paper using pscp or sftp, you may use more traditional alternatives, including:

  1. By e-mail to wgc2010@sesmail.stanford.edu, send the .doc file as an attachment.
  2. By postage mail, on disk. We can read floppies (Windows and Mac), CD-R, CD-RW and Zip disks. Please also include a paper copy of the paper. Mailing address is: Prof. Roland N. Horne, Department of Energy Resources Engineering, 367 Panama Street, Stanford University, CA 94305-2220, USA.
