Department Honors and Awards
Dean Pamela Matson elected as an Einstein Professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Sally Benson (ERE) has been selected to be the 2009 Halbouty Lecturer by the Geological Society of America ERE students win SPE International Student Paper Contest, November 2007 2007 Stanford ERE graduates continued the department's winning ways at the SPE International Student Paper Contest (held at the recent SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Anaheim). In the Master's level competition, Rotimi Awoleke came in 2nd place, and at the PhD level Bin Gong won 1st place. Congratulations Rotimi and Bin!
Lou Durlofsky will be awarded the Lester C. Uren Award for distinguished achievement before age 45 at the November SPE meeting Roland Horne will be awarded Honorary SPE Membership, the highest honor SPE bestows on an individual, at the November meeting Yuanlin Jiang wins the 2007 Ramey Award José Akamine Ramírez was a recipient of the 2007 Centennial Teaching Assistant Award Rotimi Awoleke & Bin Gong won in both categories of the SPE Western Region Student Paper Contest The Winter 2007 Miller Award was awarded to Wentao Zhou ERE students win first places in both divisions of the SPE Western Regional Paper Contest Egill Juliusson received first place in the Student Paper Awards at the Geothermal Resources Council Annual Conference Khalid Aziz received the Petroleum Society of Canada's Lifetime Achievement Award.
